@Tommy - Current InCommon fees create ~$3M revenue

Do we have a breakdown on where the increased revenues will be allocated? When assessing the proposed increase, it's going to be fairly vital for us to know where the funding will go, and whether it aligns with perceived value to the community. Software development efforts:direct funding of constituent projects like the Shibboleth Consortium vs I2 hiring constractors, development of an InCommon support structure, ongoing operational expenses for federation operations, etc.

Any changes in cost structure for Certificate Service in the same time frame, or shall we forecast based on current costs?

Have there been discussions about possibly decreasing the scope of software development and support activities, for example not continuing with midpoint, but keeping Shib and Grouper?

The question that Tommy asked and Kevin answered above was “The new target is $2.5M per year for InCommon fees. Could you please compare that number to the per year amount collected today from InCommon fees?”

Hi Noreen- All “levels of investment” are already being sized according to their prominence/necessity within the portfoliol

There is already a ramp to address the currently scheduled drop in funding.

and as Kevin is explaining - we are ‘flexing’ our investments according to what is needed in the context of the solutions needed by the community.

Can employees, interested researchers or students from universities or member institutions volunteer to participate in part of InCommon software development in a way that is in align with the availability of resources and expertise of the participants and the participating institutions?

Qiang: All of the requirements and specifications for InCommon Federation and the software is informed by the community.

sorry, got caught on getting off mute. As Kevin indicated, discussions have occurred about the scope of software develpment, both from the perspective of broadening and consolidating and the proposed funding will allow for ongoing discussions of scoping and priorities.

As Steve is mentioning, everything we do can be tracked back to community request and needs and your participantion.
